Uganda Trip - Aug. 2022

Updated: Oct 1, 2022

Here at the end of August/first few days of September, we had a fantastic trip to Uganda! On the trip, we had Steven, Hunter and their good friend Jason Warren coming from the United States. Once we landed on the ground at the Entebbe Airport, we were greeted by Pastors Michael Mwase and Steven Walusimbi. Pastor Mwase is our ComNet Director in Uganda, and he and Pastor Walusimbi help oversee and teach classes all over Uganda. First order of business: go to Café Java's and grab a delicious coffee!

Second order of business, get plenty of rest to be ready to preach the next day! The next morning, we arose early, ate breakfast and made our way to Flames of Fire church in Kampala to minister at the annual Flames of Fire Conference. The conference had been going on all week before we arrived, and all three of us had the honor of preaching and ministering on the final day of the conference. Jason preached first, and it just so happened that it was his first time ever preaching a full length sermon! He did a fantastic job and God used him in a mighty way, both through his sermon and also through a time of worship. Hunter preached after Jason, and Steven finished off the afternoon with a powerful message. At the end, we opened up the time for ministering prophetically to those in attendance, and we were able to speak life and pray over many of those who were there.

After ministering at the Flames of Fire conference on Saturday, we turned in for the night before we arose on Sunday and split up to preach at different churches. Jason and Steven went to different Flames of Fire campuses and Hunter went to Glory Church International in Kampala. It was another great time of worship and teaching, with some powerful ministry involved as well. One lady Hunter prayed for said that her tooth pain had gone away!

On Monday, we gathered our things, left Kampala and made our way to Buvuma Island. It was about a two hour drive from Kampala to the shores of Lake Victoria, where we would board a ferry to be taken onto the island.

Back in early 2022, Steven and his family were attending Wellspring Church, where Hunter has been for the last 5+ years. At one of the gatherings, Hunter gave Steven and his wife Melissa a prophetic word that God would use them to connect people that have been isolated spiritually. He received a prophetic picture of a set of islands, with Steven building connections and bridges between those islands (this was before Hunter worked for ComNet and knew that Steven was a missionary!). Steven felt strongly that this word was meant for reaching Buvuma Island and other islands in Lake

Victoria. Buvuma Island is one of the most unreached places in Uganda. It lies in Lake Victoria, which sits predominantly between Kenya and Uganda and is the largest lake in Africa (by surface area). Buvuma has approximately 8,000 residents, and is notorious for residents and guests to engage in witchcraft and unholy shrines. Our mission and purpose for visiting Buvuma was to host a two day evangelistic crusade, preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons, and see God take His rightful place amongst this forgotten people!

Back in April, when we first started planning this trip, we were believing for 500 people to come to the crusade. After hearing reports from Pastor Walusimbi and our awesome volunteer team (who had been spreading the word for six weeks before our arrival), we knew there would be many more than 500, but we were not sure how much more. We arrived on the island on Monday evening, and after settling into our hotel, we went over to the crusade grounds to see what was going on and to pray over the land. As we pulled up to the crusade grounds, there were already over 500 people there, planning to stay the night for the start of the crusade the next day! We had a powerful time of prayer over the land, and there were a group of intercessors that were walking in circles around the grounds and praying for hours. We were confident that God was about to do a mighty work, because we believe that He heals the land of those who repent and cry out to Him!

After resting Monday night, we hosted our two day crusade on Tuesday and Wednesday. All three of us preached both days, and Steven shared the Gospel at the end of each day. After all ministry was complete late on Wednesday night, there were about 300 people who accepted Christ and received salvation, around 100 people declared they had been healed or set free and there were about 4000 people in attendance both days! We were completely blown away by God's goodness. People were even boating in from other surrounding islands to come to the crusade. What started out as a prophetic word from months and months before became an amazing reality before our eyes. However, we believe this is only the beginning for Buvuma and that whole region of islands on Lake Victoria! Pray that those who were saved would join a ComNet Discipleship class, that the local pastors would make connection and relationship with those people and that God would only use the crusade as a fire starter for a major movement in that region, not just a one time event! We pray you are blessed by this testimony of our trip, and that you enjoy some of the pictures on this post.
